Daigle's Deal (Yes, Mr Daigle is BACK!)

So, what's the deal with "Deal or No Deal." This TV 'phenomenon' has just started airing its second season in the States, and the "Deal or No Deal" format has been made in a multitude of countries around the globe.

Now, being somewhat 'bi-cultural,' the Daiglemeister has seen this show in its U.S. format as well as the U.K. version -- how do they compare? Well, they don't.

The British show has pennies for prizes in contrast to the American millions. Moreover, BABES!!! In typical U.S. style, comedian Howie Mandel commands an army of leggy blondes and buxom brunettes who reveal the cash numbers in front of a wild cheering audience - a far cry from the U.K.s grey-haired Noel Edmonds, unveiling paltry sums to an aging crowd of OAPs.

Come on, Brits. Get with the program. In the words of Tony Montana,

"First you get the money, then you get the power, and then you get the wooommmeeennn."

Take it from Tony - increase the cash prizes and then the beautiful babes will surely follow...

In the meantime, Dennis says: "NO DEAL!"

The tail end of Hurricane Frances is lashing at my window panes today... All in all, the weather is getting wintery. And, is it dark in the mornings now, or am I just getting up earlier?

Other news - writing, writing, writing, getting published, getting published, getting published... which is nice.

Went to a beautiful town the other weekend - Merrickville. Makes me think of that Elephant Man... was his name Merrick?

Man, I was watching that 'American Idol' finale the other night and all I could think was 'Get a room!' I mean those two have been flirting all season... DAWN OF THE DAIGLE
As mentioned last blog, Celebritymate interviewee Richard Cheese is making waves once again in the entertainment world... His version of Down with the Sickness is featured in the new Dawn of the Dead movie (it's used in a zombie attack scene in a shopping mall)... As many of you 'Googlers' may already be aware, Dennis Daigle is now virtually a household name. Just type his name in 'Google' and see for yourselves. It seems that, while the jacketed-one has been in winter hibernation, he has well and truly gained his celebrity-crown. So far, Dennis Daigle is listed on at least three celebrity search sites and the number is growing... not to mention the diameter of Daigle's bag of emails each day!

Spooky seasons greetings!

After a brief hiatus, Dennis Daigle returns to wish a happy Halloween to all! The prolific writer/slacker is back following a well-earned break... and can't believe that summer is over, autumn is here, and winter is right around the corner!

Before Christmas takes over completely, we enter the season of pumpkins and spooks -- and snow! So far, so good. No white stuff in Canadaland yet... but it can only be a matter of time! It's very cold here....

Also, a few weeks ago, DD celebrated his third Thanksgiving ever -- pumpkin pie, turkey and lots of wine. Does it get any better?

Who turned out the lights?!?

Dennis was in the dark with most of North America's east coast thanks to the 'Great Blackout of 2003' -- but, I ask you, what was so 'great' about it?! My refrigerated food went bad, and there wasn't any electricity. Although... we did get time off work...

The Canadian Gov are now asking that we conserve energy to avoid future blackouts. But, wait - wouldn't that mean more time off work? Hmmmm, I have to go... Perhaps if I turn on the blender, microwave, TV, radio and all the lights; I can stay home for a little while longer... :)

HOT HOT HOT

Ola Daiglerinos... this is your master, Dennis. We are only days away from BRISTOL: THE RETURN. Yes, the Daigles are descending on Bristol in less than a week... and hopefully it will be cooler than Ottawa!

Canada = a beast. Where else can you find a 60C temperature swing?! -30C all winter, and now +30C! Definitely not jacket-weather... and everyone knows that Dennis is only happy if he's wearing his leather jacket... and yes, I do talk about myself in the same style as the Incredible Hulk refers to himself (ie: 'Hulk green... Hulk smash tank...'). So sue me (and that isn't an open invitation if Stan Lee is reading this!).

So, what else can I bring you guys up to speed on...? Well, DennisDaigle.com is looking pretty fly... there's of course a mysterious 'stag night' photo on the home page... it looks like the Shakespeare Inn in Bristol, but... is that really Dennis?!?! Hear the whole truth about that stag night soon...

Looking for Jayson Blair...

Blair, the former-reporter who is in the dog house after revelations he fraudulently concocted most of his news stories during his tenure at the NY Times, is a wanted man. Emails to his old college in-box bounce back, and calls to the J. Blairs in New York are answered by irate J. Blairs. The only Jayson Blair in Brooklyn claims nobody of that name lives there. Where is Jayson? He deserves a pat on the back, not to be ostracized.

So, he cut a few corners here and there (he filed stories from far away places without even leaving the Big Apple) and told a few whoppers (fabricating entire quotes and 'facts'), but he also managed to pull the wool over the eyes of dozens of veteran journalists. Hoo-hah! Isn't that what the Daiglemeister does on a daily basis? If only I achieved such notoriety for my bad deeds!?

Still, poor old Blair has had the mother of all blackballings (excuse the pun, the Times has promised this is not a 'race thing,' just because our friend Jayson is black) - he'll never work in Journalism again... unless... DENNIS DAIGLE OFFERS JAYSON BLAIR A JOB. Yes, if J.B. is reading this - here is a job offer. Of course, there's no pay, however, it's better than nothing, right?

I originally went looking for Jayson to scoop an interview, if he happens to be reading this (email: dennis@dennisdaigle.com) I'd still like that interview... although it is more likely he is busy applying for a burger-flipper job at Maccy D's -- if they'll have him. I mean, who knows if he'll start fraudulently flipping those burgers?! Jayson is blacklisted (another pun) for life!

I hope the dude finds some cash-cow out of all of this... a movie-of-the-week, a book deal... Whatever.

Well, I'm going back to my hunt for Jayson Blair... a writer with such creativity doesn't belong in a stuffy newsroom anyway, right Jayson? :)

Daigle!!! Yes, I'm still loud and proud - of being Daigle, of course. And ever since my name has appeared on Star Pages, I have been inundated with fan-mail... no kidding.

I have had requests for my autograph from all over the world! From Australia to Scotland! One lady asked for my autograph so she could sell it on Ebay (at least she's honest about it). Anyway, thanks to all the 'fans' (do they even know who I am??) and I will send something soon... I don't know what they deserve but I'll send something.

JUNOS IN OTTAWA 2003

Yep, the Canadian version of the Grammys are coming to Ottawa this April, and like a shark lured into fishing waters by a bucket full of bloody chum, Dennis Daigle is being tempted towards the building media frenzy...

Yesterday he applied for his press accreditation so that he might pester big-name stars on award's night. Big name? Like who? Well, I'll tell you - Avril Lavigne, Alanis Morissette, Celine Dion...

Ha haa - can you say 'threesome'? And no, Daigle's mathematics aren't off -- who would want to do ANYTHING with Celine???

Ottawa is smiling on its residents today... finally sun after weeks of wind and chills... Nevertheless, Dennis is smiling anyway - and why wouldn't he be grinning? Last night, he dined at the Governor General's house, Rideau Hall! A fine feast of bison stroganoff and red wine and rum and beer, before sitting in Her Majesty's favourite comfy arm chair (where the Queen would sit and doze on her visits to Canada)... It was very comfy...

You may have guessed by my lack of blogging... yes, Ottawa Rocks... Best pub in town to date is D'Arcy McGees Oirish pub... Damn fine Japanese cuisine at Suisha Gardens... and even work ain't half bad!

Dennis is currently writing for a top city magazine under his alias, of course, so as to avoid detection... and it's good clean fun. Just waiting for pay day now...

What else?! Ottawa is cool - really cool! It is 40 below and I walk to work... sometimes it is so freezing that you literally have to stop every block to get out of the arctic winds...

How do I stay warm? By thinking warm thoughts, snoogans.

Dennis has relocated - it is official. And the lucky city issssssss - Ottawa. And, in a twist (isn't there always a twist nowadays?), the Daiglemeister has found his new digs in a most familiar sounding place - Somerset Street! From one Somerset to another!!

The local pub is even called the Duke of Somerset - fantastic. If you live near there, I'll meet you in there for a pint... I'll be the Brit telling the confused bartender that I really am from Somerset (he won't know what the heck I'm talking about).

It is indeed a Happy New Year, or at least a very New feeling one. Lots on the go as I have now finished suckling at the teat of Immigration Limbo and, clutching my working papers firmly in hand, I am venturing out to the bright lights of Ottawa... Yes, the lure of the city - the CAPITAL city - is too great and Dennis is now applying for jobs, hunting for apartments and making things happen! Farewell to Pembroke and it's one horse (a very nice horse it is), The Daiglemeister is packing his bags to try out something new... Keep you posted!
